From 8 PM, or whenever you arrive, until we pull the plug.

Where

Steve & Claudia's Seattle home

Exact coordinates radioed to everyone who RSVPs yes.

Nº 2 · 320 m · Twilight Zone

On the Decks

Broadcasting live from the twilight zone. The dance floor opens at 8.

Two divers in red beanies and brass goggles spinning records on glowing turntables among coral, an octopus, and a sea turtle. Featuring DJ Dansetron and Lola K.

DJ Dansetron

Deep-sea disco engineer. Known to drop the bass to crush depth.

Lola K

Bioluminescent groove specialist. Sea shanties at her discretion.

Requests are respectfully declined. Never tell a DJ what to play next.

Nº 3 · 850 m · Twilight Zone

The Golden Clams

Three coveted trophies, plus whatever else the judges dream up. Judging is final, deeply biased, and open to bribery by excellent dance moves.

Best
Costume

For the look that stops the whole reef mid-swim.

Most Scientifically Accurate Costume

Anatomy counts. Latin names earn bonus points. Bring citations.

Best Maritime Legend

Cinematic, literary, or mythological. Captains, sirens, sea gods, and sea monsters all eligible.

Judges’ Discretion

Additional categories, created on a whim, possibly mid-party, possibly for you.

Panel of judges: highly unqualified marine biologists. Pearls not included.

Nº 4 · 2,400 m · Midnight Zone

Costume Sonar

Nothing to wear? Ping the sonar. Real creatures surface with a scientific plate; everything else, with photographic evidence.

Species incognita

Pick a category, then ping. We'll suggest a costume, its scientific name for the judges, and how much effort it takes.
